Driving License status check
After applying for a driving license, you can easily check the status of your license by either visiting the local regional transport office or visiting the official Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website.
Steps to check driving license status online via the State Transport official website
Step 1: Visit the State Transport Department website of the state where you reside.
Step 2: Click on the “DL and LL Registration” tab.
Step 3: Once redirected, click on the “Know your application status” tab.
Step 4: Enter the application number mentioned in your application form and click on "Submit".
Step 5: A new page with the driving license status will be displayed to you where you can check the information.
Steps to check driving license status online via Sarathi website
Step 1: Visit the official website https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/
Step 2: Navigate to the “Online Services” tab.
Step 3: Now, click on the “Driving License Related Services” tab.
Step 4: Choose the State where you reside.
Step 5: Once redirected, click on the “Verify Pay Status” tab.
Step 6: Enter the Application Number, Birth Date, and the Captcha code and then click on "Verify".
Step 7: A new page with the status of your driving license details will be displayed in front of you.
When should you check your driving license status?
From the time you submit your application form and the documents, the RTO approximately takes at least 30 days to deliver your license at your registered address. While most of the people receive their driving license within 30 days, it can take longer for some due to some issues with the verification process or some other steps in the process. This is where checking the status of your driving license becomes important and can be very helpful to you for several reasons. Here are some of the instances where you can check the driving license status:
- When you have already cleared the driving test for the permanent driving license.
- When you have applied for driving license renewal.
- When you have applied for a duplicate driving license.

After submitting the application form and passing the driving test there are several things a vehicle owner needs to keep in mind when it comes to checking their driving license status:
